Other than the recent news that Star Trek reboot director JJ Abrams is signed to direct Episode VII, there hasn’t been too many rumours flying around about the next installment of the Film Franchise.
So far there hasn’t been much more than speculation on what it will be about and who will star in it. Harrison Ford has apparently signed on but there is still no word about Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher. Ironic really because way back when Han Solo didn’t have any grey hair or age spots, Harrison Ford had actually wanted George Lucas to kill off the beloved smuggler scoundrel. Now it seems he’s the only one interested in continuing his character.
I wonder if anyone else has been approached? I’m certain Dave (Darth Vader) Prowse has asked to be a part of it since they passed him over in Revenge of the Sith. Maybe he could play a Wookie instead since Peter (Chewbacca) Mayhew hasn’t been approached yet either. Makes you wonder how Disney can consider reviving the Han Solo character but not Chewbacca.
This leads me , as a super fan, to believe that they may be taking something out of the Expanded Universe after all. For those of you who don’t know, Chewbacca dies a heroic death in the Expanded Universe novels.
Now I am more curious than ever and really don’t know if I can wait until the premiere of Episode VII! The speculation and rumour is killing me!
