The Mandalorian or “Mando” as he is referred to….

The Star Wars series The Mandalorian on Disney Plus is a show worth watching IMHO.

It’s refreshing to see new ideas being combined with snippets of old Lore from the Original trilogy. Personally I believe that’s the reason why it has done so well in terms of fan appreciation.

Clearly Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni understand that George Lucas was trying to tell a story, not sell tickets. This is why they opted to place this series in the timeline shortly after the destruction of the second Death Star.

Fans, true fans mind you, are looking for stories based on the original ideas, not this made for Hollywood crap that Disney started with. I say this because frankly I was disappointed with the last trilogy. The story line just didn’t work for me.

True there were some good points, as there are in all things Star Wars (yes even the Holiday special!), but the films lacked the wisdom that Lucas had poured into the Story of Star Wars.

Having said this The Mandalorian, is great entertainment and full of things from the glory days of Star Wars. True, some of the acting sucked and I think they could have utilized actors like Nick Nolte in better more far reaching roles, but ultimately they got most of it right.

The story seems a bit confusing at first because nobody seems to recognize “Baby Yoda” in the sense of what he is and what came before him. Ultimately though it is interesting that only true fans will recognize that we have experienced Yoda, The Force, and the Jedi through a story not widely known in that galaxy far, far away.

Its no surprise then that The Mandalorian and his compatriots don’t know the Luke Skywalker / Annakin Skywalker story arc and I think that’s what makes it interesting. The producers get to tell an entirely new story from a different perspective but one that is entirely familiar to fans.

Stormtroopers, X-Wings, Tie Fighters, Krayt Dragons, Tusken Raiders, Jawas and Tatooine!! Who could ask for anything more?
